Lua Leggett

About the author

Lua Leggett began her career in the banking and financial services sector managing clients from within all three sectors: public, private and charity.  She has a broad portfolio of experience.  The early years were focused on corporate lending and governance but in the late 1980s Lua turned to the world of regulated financial services where a good part of her career was working at regional level in corporate organisations and culminating in board appointments for business development and sales management at two well respected Financial Services Practices.

In recent years Lua has immersed herself in the world of business strategy primarily in the areas of reward and employee engagement and establishing the return on investment through business justification.  By understanding what makes individuals ‘tick’ she believes it is possible to channel personal goals and aspirations into delivering key organisational objectives.  With her roots in financial accounting she believes everything should be measured otherwise ‘...how can you know if you are growing and developing or declining?’ This has led to the development of a number of workshops for delivery to the business community around strategy, project management and business case development including the use of workforce metrics.

Her more recent work has focused on understanding the root and branch relationship between performance and reward, both financial and non-financial.  As founder in 2007 of evolve she was very excited to launch this as an independent company, Evolve Associates Limited in September 2009, and invests her time and expertise in helping businesses identify ways to tap into their pool of talent and win discretionary effort from employees. Her belief in the capability versus the potential of the individual is unshakeable and her drive and enthusiasm for harnessing this workforce energy makes her a well informed authority in this area of reward and engagement.  With a robust understanding of the importance of risk governance and business strategy (learned in the practical world of the acquisition of one business by another) it was a natural step to formalise this by attaining Prince2 practitioner status to support her drive to provide high quality executive level support to project management and programme delivery.

Married to Simon, with two children, she writes fiction for pleasure, sails on the Norfolk Broads and is currently planning to complete one of the coastal walks (she hasn’t decided which one yet!)

A keen interest in cinema and music festivals keeps her ‘in touch’ with younger people, something that stands her in good stead when communicating with the ‘y’ generation.
