Consultantsby Peter Parkes
The project life-cycle
For all projects (in other words non-routine or non-operational activities), the evaluation steps outlined below should be followed by the person responsible. Often, however, we rush into ‘the doing’ and miss many of these steps out (at our peril).
Indeed, many projects either never get reviewed to see whether they delivered the business benefits or, for that matter, the business benefits were never defined in the first place. (For more information on these aspects, see the topic on Project Management.)
When it comes to deciding the approach to the project, what you need to consider is whether consultants fit in or not, and if so, how. Bear in mind that when you are deciding your approach you can consider using consultants to help define the project or to deliver parts or all of it.
