Diversity and Inclusion

Introduction

The momentum in the diversity world has been shifting from ‘why should we do this?’ to ‘how can we get this done?’ This topic will help demystify diversity and inclusion and give you an insight into both why and how.

Diversity

is about recognising and valuing difference in its broadest sense. It is about creating a culture and practices that recognise, respect, value and harness difference for the benefit of the customers, service users and members of staff. There is no equality of opportunity if difference is not recognised and valued.

Inclusion

is engaging the uniqueness of the talents, beliefs, backgrounds, capabilities and ways of living of individuals and groups when joined in a common endeavour.
