David Hoad

About the author

David is an experienced management developer, coach and specialist HR consultant, with a passion for helping individuals, teams and organisations realise their potential. Although now based in Somerset, this passion has taken him all over the UK, working with clients in a wide range of sectors, industries and cultures.

After early careers in social services and teaching, David spent 14 years in BT, progressing from operational management to employee communications, IT project management and facilitation of change programmes. This led to a return to the HR field as an internal consultant, adding in-depth experience in psychometrics, interviewing techniques, employee surveys and policy and strategy formulation, as well as extensive exposure to leading-edge management development methodologies.

Since 1995, David has worked as a consultant and management developer, focusing on a wide scope of change and development initiatives with corporate clients as diverse as Royal Mail, Siemens, Remploy, Deloitte & Touche, Greene King, The Crown Estate, a train operating company, a national estate agency business, and health service trusts.

Projects have included performance management systems, action learning sets, graduate assessment and selection, succession planning, employee retention strategies, franchisee selection and screening, and organisational audits and surveys. David also works as an executive coach with both corporate clients and private individuals across a number of industries, including Royal Mail, the NHS, defence manufacturing and property management.

In addition to his business degree and postgraduate qualifications in education and HR management, David has gained qualifications in psychometrics, coaching, and NLP (to Master Practitioner), and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Personnel & Development (CIPD). He is also trained in Miles Kierson’s Executive Team Alignment Process and Michael Grinder’s Group Dynamics. He is qualified in the use of various psychometrics, including the MBTI (Step 2) personality instrument, and the ‘basis’ instrument for profiling entrepreneurial attributes.
